attracting bees to the garden

Over to the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in Bedfordshire at the weekend.

I'm always on the lookout for great wildlife gardening ideas and this one almost jumped out and grabbed me.

It is a box, stuffed with straw, plantpots and bricks with holes in.

Put a retaining chicken wire mesh across the front to hold it together and there you have it.

And to prove its success, an obliging bee was entering as I watched.

You'll be seeing my own version soon.
