Red in tooth and claw

Morning park walk.

The sweet chestnut leaves shimmered this morning. Yellows into umbers.

Then, ahead of me, a female sparrow hawk on the path in a pool of feathers having a pigeon breakfast.

Yesterday a male kestrel took a small mammal up into the low branches of a young oak on the drive as we drove past.

At night, tawny owls in conversation.
