Friends group member Jess Morton successfully applied for a Miner2Major grant to help establish a wildlife group and to encourage wildlife recording in the park.
Following a bat survey by Notts Bat Group (arranged by FoBCP) it was decided to use part of the grant for bat boxes.
Bat boxes were manufactured by Greenwood Ecology using a unique mix of waste polystyrene and concrete.
The Wildlife Group has already been a huge success monitoring water quality in the River Leen and Bestwood Mill Lakes, creating a butterfly transect in the park and holding family moth and bat nights in the park.
The group recorded the first marbled white butterfly in the park during their butterfly transects.
