Chack chack

Day 134 #365DaysWild

Cloudless sky. Frosted grass.
Oaks golden in the sun, crowned with chacking fieldfares.
Welcome, European mistle thrush size migrants. Handsome.

In Forssa, Finland in September fieldfares gathered in pre-migration preparation.  Their characteristic contact calls jarring in late summer - to my British ears. Winter birds. Never late summer.

They will stay until spring.
